Hiya guys,

Just about to start stripping, cleaning up and reconditioning (in part) the engine for the kit car.

What would you guys use to clean up the INTERNAL engine parts? Would I get away with swarffeger oil an grease degreaser? Having looked at the directions on this it appears to be water based so not sure if i could get away with using it for the internal parts.

As always any help or advise gratefully received.

Paraffin works well. I often use a bit of celly thinners on stubborn bits.

trouble is where does one (that's the royal one) buy parafin these days? When i was a kid the local garage would let you fill up a lemonade bottle with the stuff. I haven't seen it for years thou now that I think about it.

and B&Q sell white spirits too; similar type of stuff as far as degreasing goes.

If your having any machining done to the engine get the machine shop to stick it in their dishwasher. Will make a far better job of it than any degreaser . Our local machine shop clean any heads etc I take in for any work at no extra charge.
