For bike carbs - was wondereing whether it is worth having a go making a set using MAP sensors - anyone tried this?
Or know if thius has been done? lunky? info?
I wouldn't bother, for less than £50 you can buy a set Link
Don't buy those they're rubbish!
Spend a bit extra and get something that works like these.
Morgan
I already had a set of morgantunes for a twin and thought I'd save a few quid when balancing the 4 carbs on my Indy by buying the gauge type.
They are utterly crap and are still sitting on my shelf unused after the first couple of attempts to use them. They're about as accurate as
listening to the carbs. I'd have binned them but it seems a waste of money!
I bought a set of 4 Morgan tune balancers for £50-60 and they are just miles better.
Stu
Never had a problem with them, and have checked them by balancing the carbs then swapping the pipes.
Have lost a couple of the restricter valves, so if you want to flog me your gauges, I have a use for them..
Maybe there are different levels of quality out there - the ones I got seemed pretty poor. Which of the restrictors do you need?

this is the cheep way and it wors the same as the dear one ,mine cost me £6 on ebay

I've used one of those as well and IMHO the Morgantune set is well worth the extra.

Whats wrong with pipe and ball bearings?
Have a search, plenty of solutions for pennies, you are not measuring pressure (or lack of it) just difference, if ball bearings scare you then water
in the tube.
you can do it whit a bath plug and a6mm id clear hose and some water and food coulouring it works and cost about 50p to make.
i tested it against my kawasaki one that cost £150 as was just as good.
took about 5 mins to make .
was going to sell them on ebay lol
^^^^ yep - balanced a cx500 engine with this method. worked a treat.

Simplest balancing tool is four lengths of aquarium pipe with some coloured dies. Jobs a good'un.
Otherwise the Carbtune is quite a nice bit of kit. MAP sensors are awfully expensive. You don't need an actual value after all, just to make sure
they are balanced....
reason for asking is that I have one ot two map sensors; wiring them up should not be that difficult; using DVM to read pressue would be all that I need.
