hi all ive just been flicking through the complete kitcar mag and looking at the tech tips its about soldering and brazing under the brazing part it says you can braze stainless steal.
My question is if you can braze stainless steal would this be easier and quicker to use than tig welding for example on a exhaust manifold or is this a big no no

eta: I know loads are going to laugh at this question but i have never welded before so take it easy with the replies ha ha

What's the melting point of braze? Wouldn't a glowing cherry red exhaust header melt the braze resulting in it falling apart?

Brazing is done at a far lower temperature than welding - it's a high-temperature form of soldering. Even when the brazing doesn't melt, it will weaken at the sort of temps you find in an exhaust system.

thats a very good point it says about 700c so that answers that one cheers oh well you never know if you never ask

ive seen some turbo manifolds brazed and not failed , i wouldnt do it personally
