Looks good to me. Machine Mart have got a no VAT thing on at the moment too. Let us know how you get on with it, I might get one too. I've got a Makita 12v cordless that I use all the time, (I've got 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" adaptors), but the MM unit looks good for bigger stuff

Go for a cordless wrench --- B&Q sell a 1/2" square drive 14.4v MacAllister I have been using one for about 8 months now and never use anything else, it is small enough to get into very tight awkward spaces

Wouldn't bother with the Clarke wrench , spend a bit extra and get a decent one. I second the Snap On item, have had one for the last 3 years thats used everyday and still going strong. Has loads more torque than every other wrench I've had.

How much did it cost? Cost is always an issue here. If it cost a lot more then I would expect it to be a lot better, but maybe the guy doesn't need to use it a lot?

Be VERY careful of powerful impact wrenches

Bigger isn't always best --- buy a wrench suitable for the jobs where it will be of most use.

Are the 240v ones any different in size to the 24v cordless ones?
