Best rivet gun for £20
DIY Si - 29/4/09 at 09:35 PM

Evening all. I need to replace some of the interior panels on the Indy and preferably before Stoneleigh. But since I won't need to do many rivets or use it all that often I don't want to spend loads on it. Equally I don't want something that breaks the first time I use it. I've never had to buy one before so I don't really know what I'm looking for. What suggestions do you lot have? I could also do with options that I can pick up from a shop, as I doubt the internet will supply me in time.

good point on the air power! i guess it depends how many you need to do, if you have a compressor etc, but if its just a hand operated one, you shouldn't need to spend £20

edit: stanley one for £20? its a long time since i bought mine, i didn't think they cost that much though

Should've said, it needs to be a hand held/powered jobbie. I won't need to do much more than 20 rivets this time round, but I intend to keep it for use on the next project.

Screwfix, Wickes or B&Q have them if you have one local.

I got a riviter from Screwfix a few weeks back
Works great for me, it also has a swivel head which is handy for getting into those hard to reach places.

And it only costs £ 12.38

I have a swivel head rivetter - that feature has helped me out on at least 2 occasions, puirchased from Axminster tools.

chunky piece of kit, recommended. may be same as screwfix, dunno.

I've got one of these as well, as David said, the swivelly head is a really useful feature. Screwfix also do big boxes of rivets pretty cheap...
