Laser cutters

I know some members here work with laser/water cutting machines and after training on our Amada LC1212 laser at work I want to have a play. I remember someone telling me you can get some sample programs in Radan for such things as 3D sheet metal spiders and the like.

Has anyone here got those programs (or DXF/symbol kits drawings) so I can have a go.

Funny how when I have the tools I don’t have any bits of my own to make.

Cheers

CADStd is a free download i believe and an export in DXF file.

I used this when i needed a manifold plate cutting out, just drew it up myself and sent the DXF file to get it cut out

Does this mean that we can send you DXF drawings and you can provide us with the parts?

We have 2 Bystronics and a Trumph. Not heard of the programs you mention. we use Lantek, every part is drawn 1 at a time, unless a customer sends the dxf. Im just the machine operator but have been learning to draw in the program during night shifts. not as easy as it looks, but does come in very handy.

erm not really i would get sacked if i was making bits for myself and running that risk on someone elses behalf is too risky for me...sorry.

CraigJ, i could draw them up as this is my main job but at a local laser cutters they had a glass cabinet in there reception area with loads of cool objects in and when i asked about them they told me they were from sample programs thsat came with Radan. I think one was a lizard made from sheet metal like those wooden ones you can buy.

I just wanted to have a go at some maybe for the garden and the like.

I can just about switch the laser on and set it up but i mainly work in the office programming it so i make the model, then the drawing, then the DXF in solidworks. I then load it into Radan and tool it up for the laser. We bought a Turret punch about 18 months ago so i have been using Radan for some time but the laser is so much easier to tool.

I will send an email to Radan support to see if they can supply me with the 'toy' programs (or kit DXF's).
