Normally I am really carefull with my Gas bottle when I am handling my welding equipment but on Sunday I managed to knock it over and it landed right
on the regulator valve
Now the Valve seems to turn freely without opening
I managed to use it on Sunday by pushing the valve in whilst turning it and that seemed to the open the valve enough for me to weld on the weekend.
My question is am I safe to use this until I get a replacement or is there a chance of something comming off at high velocity and taking my head off
?
Thanks in advance
Mike
I would be inclined to calling the gas company to take the bottle away! It has taken a very heavy knock that may have cracked the valve, if it does go
off you have a very heavy very fast torpedo that is capable of taking out a brick wall!

personally I wouldn't risk it
It was the regulator valve that screws into the bottle that it landed on not the valve on teh bottle itself.
Do you still think its woth getting a new bottle?
I'd get a new regulator as there is quite a bit of pressure behind it. If the tap and threads are o.k. on the cylinder (it's not a bottle, they are made of glass or plastic) use the gas and swap it when empty.

I'm a right tight arse, so the thought of wasting gas and having to swap the bottle made my wallet wince. I'm already p1ssed off that I have
to buy a new regulator
