I'm busy insulating my garage for winter. I've got 2" polystyrene insulation that i'm fitting to the metal garage door.

Can anyone thing of anything that will stick the two together?

(also if you're thinking of doing it, get 1" polystyrene - far easier to use as you can cut it between the door spars and use gaffer tape to stick it in place).

presume youll need the "special" adhesice that you would use to stick up covings etc

Yes, coving adhesive.

How about Bond-it Panel adhesive , its like the nail it stuff in a tube that is supposed to hold shelves up.

Double sided tape or glue dots.

Double side tape - carpet tape, I think it's called. Polystyrene should be light enough not to pull off

Watch out for welding and grinding sparks unless you are going to sheet over the polystyrene?

It's worth either using foil backed polystyrene or covering the poly in aliminium foil (use some double sided sticky tape to attach the foil to the poly). It'll help keep the heat in and protect it against sparks. Poly gives off pretty foul smoke when it gets hot (and burns like crazy when properly hot).

Already figured out the 'burning' issue. Got bubble wrap stuff that is thick foil backed on both sides. Thats going over the polystyrene (which i really should have got the 1" stuff).

Also think i'm 99% finished with grinding / welding so should be ok when we get into proper winter.
