Any ideas what product to use on the engine and chassis? I tried thinners but it didnt seem to do the job

If brake cleaner won't shift it then you're up for repainting!

if it stops rust & brake cleaner won't shift it - don't repaint tell us all about it and we'll coat our cars in it

I don't know about the stopping rust bit. I'll try brake cleaner.
