Hi, i read something a while ago about spraying the carbon fibre cloth with starch spray before using it to hold the weave together a bit more. I cant find it again now and im hoping to have a go this week some time. Can anybody comment on this please, or any other top tips for that matter. It will be a wet lay up, just like fibre glass, cosmetic, not structural. Thanks.
What's it going on/over/round?
Personally I wouldn't, as it is a rather unorthodox way of working and the contamination of the carbon isn't worth it IMHO. Better practice
to roll the cloth around a tube, and unroll it onto your part.
Alternatively, 3M photo mount is used to stablize carbon cloth - that might be a better alternative. Just remember a very fine mist of the stuff
only....
Is this what you were thinking of??
Thanks, yes that must have been the thread. Its basically the size and shape of a scuttle but theres a tight ish pocket on each side and the roll of cloth i have is only just wide enough, so i dont want it to fray on the edges. I have some spray glue, ill give it a light spray with that, or maybe use it off the roll, see how confident i feel at the time.
