Hello chaps
i have a bit of welding to do on the chassis and wanted to run something by you to see if you think it will cause a problem.
i seem to remember from somewhere that if you weld the chassis while the alternator is connected it can knacker it. is this true or is it just some
daft wives tale i've picked up?
regards
paul
It is possible but very unlikely.
Best bet is to remove the -ve lead from battery, protects all the eus from damage (again unlikely but possible)

I tend to pull the battery off and the main ECU... but I know a lot f garages dont bother....
For the sake of disconneting the battery don't leave it to chance.
brilliant thanks.
battery is off at the minute as its on charge so i'll get cracking!

it is unlikely but it can happen.my advice is never weld a renault.i did a couple of pints worth patch on one having disconnected the battery and alternator and it cost me £140 and 2 days grief for some board i fried in the process, and that was a mate doing me a favour, would have been alot more otherwise.one of those days i should of stayed in bed....
