Is this Welder any good ? - LIDL
karlak - 20/4/10 at 06:11 AM

I don't own a welder and would use one so infrequently that a big expensive job is not needed really. Having said that, for the odd small job would this be any good ?

Would it be suitable for specific jobs or a bit of general work ?

It's arc welder. Don't really know but might require some skill to use.

not much good for thin stuff - car bodywork for instance. easy to use on thicker stuff if you get the current right.

I have done a welding course and used Mig , Arc and Gas, Mig is easier and more delicate, Arc is easy to use with a little practise but I would consider it more usable for heavy duty welding jobs

Apart from a different sticker, that`ll be the same one as mine.
Absolute pants..
A proper comedy welder.
If you crank it right up to max you can just about get away with using the thinnest stick to weld. I have never managed to use it effectivly with a 2.5mm.

Yes it will do the odd little job, but you will end up pulling your hair out at the end of it...

I can mig weld, not even *that* badly but let me loose with a arc welder and it takes a good half hour for me to get the first bead out of it after much sticking the electrode the work peice. Much harder to master. And i wouldnt touch anything less than about 3mm with it, or trust my life with the end result.

I have one and its crap, overheats and cuts out half way down a 2.5mm rod. Takes ages (days in my case) to reset. I thought it was buggered but it did come back on a few days later.

Good for big electrolysis jobs only....
