My lovely (or not ) MigMate welder has been misbehaving.
when i press the trigger, the motor whines etc but no wire moves.
ive taken the nozzle end apart, and hand fed wire down. it seems to be ok then stops solid. i can eventually pull the wire through with mole
grips!!
any ideas or suggestions?
Have you tried tightening the wire feed screw on the feed mechanism?
On my migmate, as the reel of wire reduces the angle of feed changes and it needs the screw tightened to compensate.

Have you had a look at the wire. If your garage is anything like mine and your set has been in there over winter the wire could have started to go rusty and this causes slippage in the rollers. Solution is to clean rollers and bin reel of wire.
Usually feed roller tension like James says or a melted tip. I have had a problem before with too much pressure crushing the wire. Also check the reel and make sure it's running off smoothly, I had a bad one with the wire running under the next strand so it kept locking.
since it jams when i just push a free piece of wire down the sleeve.
feels like some kind of obstruction in there.....
could be the liner is scored, they are a disposable item

I think conrod has it, if the liner is plastic, the wire can wear a groove in the liner and this can grab the wire, or the wire can wear through it
and when you put a fresh piece of wire into the liner, it hits the outer liner and stops dead.
or you could have a simple blockage, or a nipped tip..... you have to watch nipped tips, can be painful
