Parts washer- best fluid to use?
interestedparty - 5/9/10 at 05:32 AM

When I had a parts washer before I used paraffin, which I found worked very well.

I'm considering getting one again, and the adverts suggest me using stuff that is diluted with water. Has anybody here tried this, and if so, is it any good, or should I stick to paraffin?

paraffin, white spirit, deisel? Alot of people use deisel and petrol mix.

You can buy proper cleaner but its not cheap. stick some kerosene in it (parafin) you will pay less from a heating oil suplier.

The water mixing stuff is rubbish in my experience, either as above or Jizer is very good.

Jizer is very good.

It cleaned the grit and oil off the super seven with no sweat.

The problem with using petrol and paraffin in large amounts is fire risk

Not only is there a fire risk with petrol /diesel mix the fumes can be pretty lethal as well

I use bio diesel. If you can get it it's wicked and nothing is safe from it's cleaning ability! It's non toxic and does not fubar your hands either!
