fitting a bush

ive got the bush in the freezer, the wishbone de-rusted and lubed with a touch of copper grease, and the blowtorch ready. Have i missed anything? The grease is just to help it in, not because i want to restart the crushtube debate!

Nope, thats about all you need! you got the bush in a plaggy bag? didn't even use a torch although I did make a sleeve (same stuff as the wish bone although with a bit of material out so the bush didnt stick inside that!) and then a bit of solid rod or a socket set drive to ram it down, the problem I had was it mushrooming when forcing it in, the sleeve stopped that.

Cheers

Try it without the grease first as the body of the bush should twist not swivel inside the wishbone. If its a poly bush and you really need to use it, use grease that hasn't got petrol or derivatives in it as it attacks the material - use moly

ive had to stop for a break

Its the rear bush on the jeep and blooming enormous. And its tighter than i thought possible! Im currently using a g clamp and the mallet, and its bloody slow! Would have been easier to get it off and have it pressed in but there are bolts i cant get undone. Might replace the g clamp with a bolt through the packers now i think about it!

Cheers for the help, appreciated.

long bolt though the bush, and the tube, steel plates for the bolt to go through, and impact wrnech? sort of like a vice?

ive now got it in a 30kgs vice, hitting the handle with a lump hammer, and its still not going the last bit! Is this excessive force?! Might have to take it to get properly pushed in tomorrow
