Hi
Just looking at some air drills and after some advice please.
Machinemart list 3/8'' and 1/2'' air drills - could understand it for impact wrench or air wrench but what does this sizing mean
for drills ?
thanks
The max size drill the chuck will take,,,,,
Size difference is the chuck size 10mm or 13mm
Great thanks a lot.
There could be a speed difference as well.
Air drills I've used in the past with big chucks ran slower, 500 rpm (ish)
The smaller ones ran at 1500 or 2000 rpm.
Just a thought.

Yes according to the catalogue, the 1/2'' is 1800 rpm and 3/8'' is 2200 rpm.
I thought slower was ok as it would be predominantly for metal ?
Thanks for info.
Speed would depend on size of the 'ole
The physical size is different too the 12mm drill is bigger and heavy
Reckon I'll go to the store and have a look rather than getting straight off internet - least I know a bit more now.
Thanks everyone as always.
For general use 10mm drill will do you and for the odd times you need a 12mm drill bit get one turned down to fit in a 10mm chuck
