hi i have just bought a tyre machine for my workshop only i dont have the cash for a elecric wheel ballancer at the moment i have seen the static
wheel ballaners on ebay portable wheel balancer price includes vat on eBay (end time 13-Jul-11 15:03:43 BST)
has anyone used one and do you get good results cheers doddy
I have one. Not that brilliant really, all a bit hit and miss. Maybe I haven't got it set up right though (difficult to see how it could be wrong though )
they use manual ones at the superbikes, seemed pretty good and easy to use, but then it was the pirelli boys doing it so theyre probably reasonable at it
yes i have a manual bike one and that works fine but you cant do car tyres on it so i need one for cars and they work abit differant
Only problem is that type can't do a dynamic balance --- ie it can't tell you towards which edge of the rim the weight should be
placed.
Dynamic balance dosen't matter that much with bike wheels because the rims are relatively narrow and the steering geometry has zero scrub
radius.
With a car you have a much wider wheel, steering geometry with a scrub radius and king pin inclination so dynamic balance becomes more critical
issue.
However if you balance a wheel and it isn't quite right when on the car you can always try moving the weight accross the rim
