Hi All

Has anyone out there used a company called "the Aluminium Warehouse"? I found them on the net and the do mail order ali at what looks like reasonable prices.

So, before I go placing an order I wondered whether there was any experience of them in the Locost community.

The website is www.aluminiumwarehouse.co.uk

Not used them before..

How do their prices compare to Noggin-end-metals? Have used noggin before without issue

If ordering online make sure you ask if the ally sheet is plastic protected. I bought some at a good price but with no wrapping.
It makes cutting difficult without scratching the sheet.

Ive had various bits and bobs form them and they were a good service.
their polished and brushed ally sheet does come with plastic protection on it.

I used them for a couple lengths of section for the seat brackets. Reasonably cheap compared to other suppliers and did the shorter lengths I needed. Delivery was a couple of days and well packed. I'd use them again if I needed anything more.

Thanks chaps.

I'm after square and angle section as I'm making a top for a trailer using a sheet of ali I've got left over from the car.

Looks good then.

Cheers

I've used them extensively. Always a good service and competitive pricing.
Cheers,

I too have used them alot. Bought ally sheet, bar, angle bar, ally pipe, tools, everything. Very good competitive prices, fast delivery...would well recommend.

Surprised how few people have heard or even used them.

The secret is out!!

Bought some angle, bar and sheet; reminds me I must ask them why they have not refunded the pallet charge (£40 + VAT) as they promised.

Maybe I tried to be sneaky, but it was agreed and I put it in the notes for the purchase too.

I wanted some ally sheet, now a 1m square costs more than a 2m x 1m, however a 2x1 attracts a £40 pallet delivery charge.

Solution, pay a couple of pounds for two cuts and have two 2x1 sheets cut in half so they can be delivered without the pallet.

I was told to put the purchase through and state in the notes that the 2x1 should be cut in half and that it had been agreed the automatically added pallet charge would be refunded. So the card bill turned up last week and lo and behold full price.

To be fair I have not chased them yet and the delivery was quick (not on a pallet either) and the pallet charge aside the prices good.

I'll give them a prod and let you know the outcome.

Aalco sell a lot of grades from stock, and can order others.
http://www.aalco.co.uk/

They have lots of information on what the grades mean
http://www.aalco.co.uk/_downloads/literature/aalco-catalogue.pdf (around page 52)

They were competitive for the full sheet of chequer plate I had from them.
Picked it up from the local warehouse so no delivery costs.
