Hi I need to upgrade my cortina front callipers and as the princess callipers always go for silly money I was wondering if any one has used different callipers and could give me some advice. I need to improve the balance with sierra rear callipers. Regards Arthur

do you have a vacuum servo? a remote one from a scrap car could give you better stopping power.

Pedant alert, A servo doesn't make the brakes any better it just makes the pedal easier to press

On another note, why do you need to upgrade, are the brakes inadequate?

The easiest upgrade is to go up a step in pad compounds. Also much cheaper than anything else!

I put EBC black stuff in mine,no problem stopping.
Have you got the correct size master cylinder for the m16 calipers?

Standard cortina discs and calipers should be plenty for stopping a lightweight car. As said check piston sizes and go for a pad upgrade first.

If it is purely a balance question ie too much rear stick a pressure regulator in the rear line.

If in addition you also want to reduce the pedal effort required to lock the front brakes fit a smaller bore master cylinder.






Incidentally a remote servo would improve the brakes because it would the reduce pedal effort BUT you would need fit two one for each circuit.

Servo don't of course increase the amount of energy the brakes can absorb before fading or increase the ultimate stopping power (that is iif you can push the pedal hard enough ).
