Whats the easiest type of rivet gun to use. Iv just started riveting the bottom plate onto the car and the gun i have is killing my hands after about 10 rivets and i have about another 60 to go i have the standard type at the moment. Dont want to spend to much any ideas?
Air riveters are the best but obviously you will then need a compressor. If your on a budget go for a lazy riveter about 30 quid. It will kill you using a small hand riveter.
If you've got a compressor then an air rivet gun is child's play compared to a basic rivet gun.
Otherwise I have heard good things about a lazy rivet gun like this (though not that one specifically)

I could only do so many rivets with the basic squeeze type before my hands gave up and had to let someone else have a go....cheers Dad!

I did my whole car with a hand riveter, and then bought an air riveter later.....like you do
You will find it easier on your pandies, if you extend the handles with some 25 x 25 chassis tube, i just taped it on, worked
a treat, although not much cop in confined spaces.

I just used a small hand riviter type with no problems. Just do a few at a time and when your hands/arms hurt take a break for 10 mins then go back
and do some more. It will strenghten your grip and you will have the firmest of handshakes
I think that all those years of riding thoroughbred horses trying to pull my arms off must of had a beneficial effect on the strength of my hands and
forearms. I do suffer with tennis elbow though.
Did all mine in one go using a hand riveter ,I now have arms like Popeye. I have a set of lazy tongs which are great provided you can extend them to thier full length but if you can't then they will not grip the shank of the rivet
I use this type for larger rivets.
