Just got a new compressor for Christmas... filled it with oil, turned it on and 20 seconds later there was a bang and the oil fill plug was nowhere to be seen.

On closer reading of the manual for the same compressor as rebadged by Powercraft (i.e., not the rubbish manual that came with it) it turns out I should have replaced that plug (which was for shipping only) with a separate plug that came with the compressor.

Unfortunately, in my eagerness to tidy the garage and make space for the compressor, that plug got thrown away as part of the compressor packaging...

Anyone got any idea where I could get a new one? It's for this type of compressor:

(you can just see the red plug I need to the right of the yellow label)

just email the company you got it from saying it was missing from the box.....

Go to any shop that sells compressors, Machine Mart, etc.

Yup, already sent them a weaselly email saying "I was unable to locate the plug". Which is true, since it's at the tip somewhere...

Can you just drill a small vent hole in the plug you have?.

More than likely a b.s.p thread, just nip to B&Q or your local plumbers merchants and get a blanking plug, drill a vent hole and away you go.

If its a 1/2" bsp, use a radiator bleed valve and take out the bleed screw.

ETA...better than a rad bleed valve, get hold of a plastic plug used for transporting rads. Drill a hole in one of those. They get binned when fitting a rad.
