One of the battery packs for my much used and abused Macallister 14.4v cordless impact wrench is getting tired (my own fault I forgot to charge it
after use) so I am looking at buying a replacement wrench.
The Clarke Electric Impact Wrench CEW1000 230v wrench has a good spec and decent price., I have a friend with a Makita 230v wrench for motor cycle
work and he swears by it.
As for air impact wrenches and air ratchets --- been there got the T shirt and I don't want to go back.
its a good toy i had one till i got my new compressor and gave it to a friend.
Only let me down when the garage over tightened my wheel nuts.
i have got a bosch cordless one GDS18V will do 220nm. the only bolt so far that i found that i wouldn't undo was one of the rear sub frame
bolts on the mx5 when i broke it to build the exocet. it has no bother taking off stupid tight wheel bolts. have also undone crank end bolts and
camshaft bolts with it too.

Have you thought about replacing the cells? They are quite cheap although there is a specific size for power tools - blessed if I can remember now but google is your pal.
i had a bosch drill which stopped holding charge.
Someone showed me a post about recharging the cells with higher voltage. now the old battery works as well as the new one.
It quite brutal as the torque is not adjustable, either on or off. Its well made, very robust. I bought mine for undoing the sierra driveshft bolts with the shafts etc off the car, it was a walk in the park once I found a socket up to the job. Use proper impact sockets as the usual sockets will flake at best or fracture. I use for undoing, but not for doing up because of the torque not being adjustable and the danger of doing damage by quesstimating. Though mine gets minimal use it is invaluable for the odd job which would otherwise have me cursing and swearing for hours.

Out of interest why not, is it just the portability aspect?
Been thinking of one of these myself unless anyone has any other suggestions?
Anyone found replacement batteries?
