I ran out of Polyester resin half way through my latest GRP project. Went to Halfords (2 miles away) for
a can of Upol/David's "Polyester" resin, I have plenty of MEKP catalyst.
Laid up 2 layers of 2x2 twill cloth, and 48hrs later still not cured It turns out that David's resin needs Dibenzoylperoxide catalyst
to cure, MEKP has no effect whatsoever! What a mess
thats a shitter. what you making?
Been there and done the same! Brush a hot mix of the correct stuff over the surface, and it will cure, but it will neevr be right....
Making a cover for the PAS motor, didn't fancy making an ally one.
Description
I have put on a coat of resin with the correct catalyst, fortunately the first 2 layers went on with "real" resin, I was just adding
thickness.
Why can't I just be satisfied with the first effort, the car would have been on the road years ago.
Yes I know what you are experiencing. The mix is ultra important, as is the temperature. Has to be at least 18 - 20 degrees.
