Evening all,
Following a VERY frustrating weekend in the garage, I have a list of tools I need to get. So can you kind people please recommend what and where to
get the following from:
dremel
small angle grinder + cutting discs + sanding discs
rivnut tool
pipe bender
hacksaw - anyone recommend any particular brand?
41mm socket
small torque wrench (10 - 40nm)
jigsaw
Have a machine mart not too far away but you may be able to point me to some current deals. also, can look on eBay but again be good to have some
recommendations.
thanking you in advance,
mads
Re tools;
Angle grinder, without doubt get a Makita. you can get these for about £45 now. 1mm Cuttings discs, ebay/50p each.
Hacksaw, having used various different types and makes over the years, I would recommend a Teng Tools one. wouldn't be without mine.
Dremel, instead have a look at the Rotozip. Less popular and therefore less expensive, but very well made.
Mine also came with an angle grinder attachment, its not perfect, but its smaller than a normal grinder so useful in small spaces.
Grinder, get the best you can afford, avoid budget names. Try and get one with metal gears and replaceable brushes.
Hacksaw. I like the composite frame ones, I use a Bahco 319. Blades, don't scrimp go for something like Starrett or Eclipse. Same with cutting
discs. Have a look at Toolstation or Screwfix for discs and blades.
Jigsaw. I have a Makita cordless, its amazing how much better a cordless one is.

you can't go wrong with teng tools.
Also, for sockets i've found the quality of halfords is actually quite good and i've replaced a couple of things under their lifetime
warranty, never without quibble.
if you need odd sized sockets, then unipart can be a good place, but again they're not cheap.
Angle grinder with soft start are much safer, reduces torque kick, with no jerk or snatch on start up.
