I have just finished spraying my engine mounts at the weekend using rattle can paint. I first used some etch primer, followed by a couple of coat of
grey primer followed by a couple of coats of the colour that I want.
Do I need to apply a lacquer or a varnish?
The reason I ask is I manged to spill a single drop of thinners on one mount, and it stripped the top coat right off where it landed. Is this because
the paint has not dried completely, or because I need a protector layer of some sort?
Thanks in advance for your help
Sounds like you painted it with a base coat so yes you need lacquer for resistance to chemicals and durability

Would it not have been better to powder coated them?
