Double sided sticky tape.
chris-g - 1/1/13 at 10:32 PM

Hello all and happy new year. This has nothing to do with Blue Peter. I am in need of some industrial grade double sided sticky tape, i.e. high strength bond to metals and plastics and water resistant. I would be grateful for any recommendations and suitable outlets to purchase it from. Thanks in advance. Chris.

3M VHB. It's quite frankly amazing, though not cheap

I can't help with a supplier but google should find you something mail order

Mammoth Power Grip Tape from Toolstation is pretty good, £2.50 for 2.5m

Henkel have a complete range as do 3M some of is so good its like welding!
Try a fasteners or bearings supplier locally as they are usually stockists

I may be teaching you to suck eggs here, these tapes are fantastic, but only if you clean and prime the two mating surfaces. Otherwise they just perform 'average'.
Depending how much you want I could put a couple of 'sample' rolls in the post to you Chris. We use quite a variaty of engineering grade d/sided tapes

Another vote for 3M VHB tapes. We bone stainless sheet metal with it and it just does not come apart. As above preparation is vital for a good joint and if you need accurate positioning of the two components an assembly jig is a good idea.

Thank you all for the useful comments. Looks like the 3M stuff will do the trick.
