I have made an aluminium airbox and I want to connect a 10mm hose to it. How can I do this?
I have seen things like the "self sealing hose" (see ebay link) for when you need a small hose to come off a larger one. I guess I could
use one of these but I was hoping for a cheaper solution?
Welding isn't an option. Any ideas?
Cheers

You can buy a nut for them, but I forget how to search for the right one

Is the hose 10mm internal diameter ?
I will look in the swagelok scrap bin at work tomorrow, we have quite a few brass & stainless steel fittings that have been taken from various
bits of equipment, im sure we must have something similar to the one in that link.
We definately have a load that will take 6mm internal pipe but I will take a look.
15mm tank connector (cheap as chips) with a 15mm to 10mm reducing adaptor and some 10mm copper pipe.
Soldered together, JB weld on the back of the tank connector and jobs a good'un.
had another idea. If I got a fitting like the one in the link below, i could chop the thread off leaving the nut part, drill a 10mm hole in the
airbox and pass it through from inside to outside. I could then seal this with something that will hold it tight. Maybe add a couple of small
rivets?
Do you think that will be good enough?

Drill up the middle of a suitably sized bolt. Pass the bolt through from the inside of the box and put nut on outside. Seal with whatever you have handy; Gasket material, Hylomar, cornflake box, etc.

For reference, bolts make poor hose connections - they leak like a sieve due to their threads and you struggle to see it because it's air...
