TIG welding First attemp for about 10 years

Well, after owning the machine for 18 months I finally got round to getting an Argon bottle and giving it a try.

Seems to work fine on DC, pics below, but it will not work on AC, I've has a look inside and nothing obvious, connector loose / dropped off etc....

Switching to AC and striking up, all I get is one arc and then the error light comes on, anyone know a repairer I can take the unit to and get it checked out?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought DC was for steel and AC was for aluminium.

Yep, works fine on DC for steel etc.

AC for aluminium, which is mainly what I wanted it for - nothing.....

Try contacting plasmapart.com to see if they will look at it for you if it is a Chinese welder. Spectrum welding in Chesterfield might help but it can get expensive.

Just a thought, but have you connected the torch to the negative output?

Was going to suggest plasmapart, they repaired my plasma cutter!
