Ive got a clarke air impact gun, which doesnt get a huge amount of use, but I went to use it the other week and it worked, but didn't really do much, couldnt loosen wheel nuts which were done up, not really that tight.

Started lowering an audi yesterday, and it really struggled with the spring compressors, so decided to take it apart tonight while it raining and I can't do much else to the car, stripped it all out, all looks clean and new enough inside. Little signs of wear etc, from what I imagined (I admit I may have forgotten to oil it from time to time) and no I've put it back together, it just blows air out.

The little plastic vanes don't seem to want to come out very easily. I imagine air pressure should blow them out to fill the cylinder?
Slightly confused by it all now, and I REALLY need to get the car finished tomorrow now, and the air gun would be a huge help

lubrication is your friend, NO or LACK of lubrication is the answer. Use the proper oil regularly.

Absolutely. I know I've neglected it, so I'm changing that now. I've oiled everything (not air tool oil, as I don't have any, but a mix of the thinnest oil I've got, and wd40 which I know isnt ideal. Air tool oil is on order though) and put it all back together, I need to somehow shock it into working, once its working the oil will get in all its bits, but until it starts spinning, I don't know how to get it to go

The one I have has an oil port to fill and also requires oil via the air line (it actually came with a mini oiler to go between the tool and the airline), so if have done both of those you could try to raise the air pressure a bit to get it going, had a similar issue with a drill that wasnt lubed enough when the pressure went down on my old compressor that wasnt upto the job the drill wouldnt turn until the pressure had built up again.

You could also try putting a socket on it and try turning it by hand when the pressure is applied to get things going.

Every airtool that I have lubricated using whatever oil was to hand has stopped working. I think it makes the vanes swell up or something, they just make a leaking air noise and do nothing (though they were cheap crap ones to start with).

I put two or three drops of 3 in 1 type oil down the inlet on my Aldi rattle gun and it works fine, only had it about 6 years though and it only gets used every few months. The instructions say 90psi operating pressure but I use 120psi and not found anything it won't undo on my car or bike.

Tried allsorts with it, still nothing. 100psi, oil in everywhere, nothing.
Got the job done without it now anyway, arms are killing me

Maybe something in the trigger area rather than vanes in the motor? Just buy a new one?
