Just had a near miss using a small gas cylinder powered blow lamp, the type with disposable canisters . It's been in my garage for a couple of years or more I took it out as I need to use one and thought I'd better try it so opened the valve and light it up, no problems I thought, any how went to clean the dust and cobwebs off of it and removed the plastic (push on) baseplate and the actual torch . After a few seconds I smelt gas, on inspecting the cylinder I found where the base plate had been in contact with the cylinder the cylinder had rusted resulting in a jet of gas escaping and being ejected from the cylinder a good couple of feet . Anyone who has one of the blowlamps gathering dust in your garage or shed CHECK IT OUT
