Anyone suggest a place they have used ?
I want a flange cutting (ideally 12mm thick) from stainless, Ive been quoted £68 or £35 if I supply the steel, from a place in Warwick, they can only
cut up to 10mm though. Its to fit the exhaust side of a Garret turbo to give an idea of size. The price of the steel being a big chunk of the price
(its doubled in the last year) as those guys the other side of the planet are using up all the steel in the world !
Thanks
James
Much as I'm a big fan of laser cutting, for a turbo flange (I assume you mean it will be about 4"x3" ish??) it would be cheaper to get
it milled out on a vertical mill. Carbide tools have no problems with stainless and if you already have the 12mm plate then just take it to your local
machine shop and they'll do it, should be no more than £20 I guess.
