I've seen some 3" mini air supplied sanders that lots of the fabrication guys use to quickly clean up the surface before welding.
I have opted for cordless tools instead of an air supply at home and have managed to find a suitable alternative for almost all the tools I want.
Apart from a small sander.
Has anyone seen any small, relatively high rpm sanders that are mains supplied? 3" pistol grip or something along those lines?

I use flap disks in an angle grinder
Snap on, milwaukee and sealey do 14v lithium combination sander/polishers which do a similar job to the die grinder type prep tools.
They're dual speed, the high speed is a bit slower than the air equivalent tool, but adequate.
All of them are quite pricey, but there doesn't appear to be any cheaper options.

I have just spotted this, which converts a cheap cutoff grinder from lidl to use 3m roloc type pads which are commonly used in prep tools.
