to get the best out of it you want some thin shim/tin type material, just lift the wheel enough too slide the shim under too confirm its off the ground, any higher and you run the risk of unsettling the suspension enough too give you false readings as you move around the car, remember the car really needs to be on a level surface too.

I'd lend my tools to anyone that needs them.
Its all to do with trust. I lend tools out on the basis of "how likely am I to seeing it again"......and when will it be returned.
I think we have all probably lost tools over the years.

If I lend mine out I usually go with them. I lose too many that way.
