Time on your car?
Fred W B - 11/11/05 at 08:28 AM

Okay, hands up those of who have put in a days leave for no reason other than to work on your car project?

I find that I in a very good week I get maybe 6 or 8 hours on Saturday, possibly 2 or 3 on Sunday, and 1 or 2 hours on one evening in the week.
In a bad week, I would get less than a quarter of the above. This is time in the garage, not time spent planning, drawing, researching and parts chasing.

So I would guess I average maybe 30 to 35 hours a month in the garage, so when you have a big step to make, or a particular part or section of the car to finish, it looks very attractive to get an extra 8 straight uninterrupted hours in the garage, by taking a day off.

Cheers

Me!

So far I've taken three Monday's off (but then I hate Monday's anyway), and I've just taken my last weeks holiday to get it through the SVA and registered.

Now it's finished I want to take more time off to drive the thing.

I've been working on my car for nearly a year now, spending about 20 hours a month in the garage. Ironically I am now off sick with a very dodgy back (4 slipped discs!) and I can spend all day in the garage ........ but I can't work on it due to my inability to bend down

Torture or what!

yeah it can be a real pain when you have the time but not the well being to do any thing . As afellow back sufferer I know how you feel but these days it is having to lok after my kids while my wife does her music teaching thing that keeps me out of the garrage . But the school hols are coming up in my part of the world and I have told SWMBO that I want three days a week to work on the car maybe hearing Vroon noises by christmas ( I hope )
