aluminium polish

After using loads of different types of polish on my aluminium side panels with varying results . I tried some stuff today called "Cape Cod" . Made by the Cape Cod Polish Co . Dead easy to use , quick with excellent results. Better than anything else I've tried only downside it's not cheap . Never seen it before, I got it from a good hardware shop.

Sounds a bit fishy to me

I heard about this stuff a few years ago - it is apparently magical stuff and worth every penny.

Have you tried Belgum alu I swear by it for the engine cases on my motorbikes

Not as good as the Cape Cod , find it tends to "dry" quickly before it works properly although a squirt of WD40 seemed to help give better results . Will try Alumagic , Trev should know

Just paint the ruddy thing, then you won't have all the hassle!
Iwas going to go down the bare aliu route 'till I realised that it would take weekly effort to keep it looking spic 'n span so I'm looking at other options now Has anyone tried clear laquer on ali? If so, did it looks like sevens sorts of shite or was it half-way reasonable?
I can remember talking to the owner of a (mirror-finish stainless bodied) Robin Hood at Stoneleigh once and when I asked him about washing, or more specifically shammying it dry his eyes took on a haunted look and he just said "Don't ask!"

Don't use laquer, once it gets scratched and water gets in, the ally goes white. Take a look at old ally wheels round the edges where they've been kerbed.
Polish or Paint!!!!!
A tip when polishing, is to use WD40 to get rid of all the black stuff.

Or, as someone recommended on this site, use flour. Use your polish, rub off with a clean cloth until all you're getting is a blackened cloth, then dip a clean bit of cloth in the flour and rub it over. Blackness goes away and the ali brightens up nicely.
