On the lookout for a Mig and been told that said mag gave the SIP 150 (gas version) a glowing report - did anyone on here read the article and can confirm what I've been told?

Thats waht I use and have been pleased with the results so far although not ver experienced. I did get a mate to help me set it up while he used mine
to weld up my lowered sump as I didn't trust myself to be able to do it leak free, he is a very experienced welder and he said he was suprised at
how good it welded for such a small box.

Yes although a lot of people do not like the SIP welders, they did recieve plenty of praise in that article, apparently the torch lining s are now
steel rather than the old plastic stuff, i personally like the look of the Migmate Pro which has a proffessional Eurotorch fitted, it a bout
£300..........
Really bad choice --- wire feed is awful, feed mech is puny and wire spool spindle sticks, lots of niggling problems, for example after two weeks
use on mine the fan worked its way off the shaft, circuit board is unprotected inside welder, also the control switches take a bit of figuring out and
aren't explained properly in the handbook.
Buy a sealey or a anything eslse (except a Cosmo which is identical to the Sip).

Will second that, Sealey or unbadged sealey from the same italian factory (like an ERP machine like mine) are very good, more money but then is it worth buying a £200 welder twice or a £300-£400 welder once??
Em, was kind of hoping for better (all positive) feedback. weldUK are selling them at what seems a 'good' price.
I had seen comments about the feed and was thinking that the steel liner would address this. Does anyone know if they have made any changes to the
rest of the feed?
I've got one and am very happy with it. Its 100% better than my old 100amp welder ........... but that doesn't say a lot as the 100amp one
was only good in comparison to nothing.
I'm sure it does have issues & having seen NS Dev's welder it is bound to be rubbish ........... but, i think in the price bracket its
good (athough i couldn't find anything else for the same price - i got mine vat free at machine mart).
What do you want to use it for? Welding up a chassis and the occasional bit of welding? it will be fine.
Doing lots of fabrication - get something more profession and less hobby.
I think i'd class this as a good to high end hobby machine, where as others are comparing it to very high end hobby or low end professional.
The liner is the bit inside the supply pipe, these are always either plastic or teflon (teflon is best and required for aluminium wire), that is the
industry standard way.
The nozzle hand gun has a steel spiral spring liner inside it -- all the makes hobby mig nozzle hand guns I have encountered are the same style in
fact most if not quite all use the same unit.
I have heard some people have got better results by chucking the said sprial spring in the bin but haven't tried it.
The SIP feed mech is really poor on the sub 400 pound machines, the motor looks like it came out a Scalectrix car, the PVC type plastic the drive
assembly is made of distorts under the load of pushing the wire into the driven roller, the friction damper on the wire spool is crude and useless and
needs constant adjustment between runs as the spool is used up..
