Does anyone have experience of using cheap air nailers.
I currently have a small Rapesco electric nailer. My problem with it is that it doesn't seem possible to control the depth that the nail goes in
accurately. I also need two hands - one to work the trigger, the other to hold it hard to prevent rebound and then bruising of the wood.
Homebase are selling Stanley nailers at reduced price - any good?

i bought a B&Q nail gun and compressor a while back. Great tool. Used it a lot. Ideal for pinning skirting boards, panelling etc etc. I even used the compressor with a die grinder when porting head - slow but possible.
I got the one from Aldi about a month ago and used it yesterday for the first time - with the staples in it and was very impressed. Probably put about
85 staples in (holding plastering "corners"
and it only had to re-charge the air tank on my compressor once, and all the staples went in
well. I tried one first straight into the breeze block and at first thought it hadn't worked because I couldn't see anything, only to
realise it was so far into the block it almost disappeared.
Machine Mart and B&Q sell basically the same item - it is £40 in B&Q.
Not sure whether this guy was using a cheap one or not...
be careful though!

At my local Aldi they still had some of the staplers/nail guns left in stock from the promo a couple of weeks back, nip round there you may be
lucky.Had mine a couple of years now they are better in as much as they will fire nails and staples.

I got the Aldi one as well, just on a whim really. I need to find a supplier of the staples in a shorter length now but it is well worth the £16.99 it cost me. If you wait till they've had them a while the price drops at our local shop but you can miss out that way.
Got two air nailers both came free with compressors used one for tack up a shed before I put the screws in very impressed, but I didn't need
much control for that.
The other is is a Rockworth and is unused and still in box 5 quid to another locoster +about six squid to post.
Had a mate who recovered Pool Tables he tried electric stapelers and found he had no control so got a compressed air job -- said it was a big
improvement.

Just bought the Aldi nail / staple gun. I'm impressed.
However, it has one problem, the "hammer" is wide enough for staples. This means that when using it with nails, it makes a wide slot in the
wood. Anyone know how to fix this.
Also, can anyone tell me what the standard air connector it uses is and where I can get a female one to put on my hose. There seem to be at least two
types - Screwfix sell both but only in packs of three for about £14

Try lowering the pressure a bit. I'll have a look tomorrow but there may be a knob on top of the motor unit to adjust the throw. I swap my air stuff over to standard PCL fittings as soon as I get them.
I've tried lowering the pressure - it does help but does not fix the problem. There is a knob on top but this just redirects the exhaust.
This is frustrating as the tool is otherwise absolutely great. But i can't use it for putting on skirting or door trim if it makes a staple sized
hole in the wood to put a nail in.
If anyone else is thinking of buying one, don't buy a combined nailer / stapler if what you want is a nailer !
