Mig swan neck liner spring
Surrey Dave - 28/4/06 at 12:26 PM

On my post yesterday about 'birds nests', it was said that it would be OK to remove the liner /spring from the swan neck, has anybody else done this with good results.........I have to agree that after fitting a new Teflon liner last night most of the drag on the wire appears to come from the spring liner in the swan neck........

no,,, keep the neck liner the wire will snag if you remove it. you can shorten it pushing the spring further towards the tip. but you must replace the bit with spare teflon. idealy you would se all teflon but it would melt ??

I was advised by WeldUK to remove it (which I did) and I haven't had any feed problems since

I had to melt it out of my mate's welder as it was blocked and snagging, it's never failed since.
