nib1980 - 3/7/06 at 11:45 AM

Hello all,

I'm starting to clean up some bits on my car. and It has nasty looking Hammerite Gold, any simple suggestions on the best way to remove so I can paint it a nicer shade of Black.

Many thanks

brush it with cellulose thinners and it will crinkle up and wipe of, or get a wire brush wheel for a grinder/drill

Really want it to stick there and give protection.

If i ever want it to do that on a part i can guarantee it'll all flake off after a bit. No mater how much prep work i put in..... :-p

_IF_ the parts were preped properly, you could lightly rub it down and over coat with hammerite?

As I found out by accident - brake fluid removes it quite easily!!
