LOL thats why i couldn't be arsed building my own chassis, but have to agree with nib, when you think back, joining metal is quite magic.

same thing happened to me when i learnt how to weld... exactly 6 months ago, i bought a cheap arc welder, strong enough for 3mm electrodes and i am
still using it to build my chassis
i frequently comment about how i regard welding as the adult version of play-dough.
one thing that would make me switch to MIG or TIG is the fact of having to chip off that annoying slag! otherwise, arc is pretty cheap and easy to get
used to.

Cracking bit of welding - something about it excites me....
I'll get my coat....
Now i'm very worried Exciting and welding are not words I usually associate.
Good welding is an artform IMO. I have a friend who fabricates for a living - mainly stainless work for very expensive boats and yachts. Some of the
work he produces should be in a gallery, not skulling around on the ocean.
Mark - looks like quality workmanship!

The artisan who taught me to arc weld years ago reckoned you knew when your welding techinique was good when the cooling slag curled up and fell off
by itself.
I used to be able to do that, but I'm well out of practice with arc now.
Cheers
