Hi all, as anyone used metal shears? the one pictured will cut upto 6mm but wouldn't be much use to me if it bent the metal when cutting.
Does that guide on the side stop any distortion??
Thanks
the problem is that those cutters are to snap a bit of sheet and some materials (all solid).
the problem is that the downsliding part creates a turned up waste material!
sow if you have 2meters of lets say 3mm bij 30mm section and you need a strip of 150mm
then one end will be turned because it isnīt cutted an all places straight away.
it start being cut then is pushed downwards while it progresses cutting..
result is a piece of material wich can be quet challenging to undo the turned part.
i think its primerly just for sheet todo some fast cutting for example if you need to make a disc then it would be easy to follow a line and to snap
every time the hooks of it..
Tks
p.s. sow the aswer on your question is that one half of wat you cut is bad and the other is good/fine.
i would try a circle saw with a good cuttingdisc and maybe even an rpm regulator!! also use cooling fluid.
a cheep fishpool pump could do allot of that part.
also you can just use an angle grinder saying that its worse to handle and not sow accurate also it takes longer.

6mm rod yes but 6mm plate i dont think so i will try it later in the week and let you know.i have only cut rod and small bits of 3mm flatstrap with this type of cutter .
I use a sheer similar to the one pictured for straight cuts on aluminium and mild steel sheet. It is easy to cut to the line. The piece on the right
does bend, it is true, as it is fed away but there is no lasting distortion.
