Not sure I've got this in the correct place but here goes anyway!
I just went to order my rivets (for panels, p/clips etc) and am faced with a huge choice of options, so any help with this would be great.
Type - plain, dome, large flange () countersunk
Material - ally, stainless, mild steel?
Size - 3mm, 4mm, 5mm?
Quantity - can I use 1 size for everything and if so how many are we talking about?
Lastly what size rivenut's are best for going into 19mm tube (for panelwork)?
Or if it makes things easier, will 1000 x 3.2mm standard ally pop rivets be fine for everything
Cheers
Alex

Hi Alex
You cannot do better than to talk to Primary Fasteners about what you need. They are absolutely excellent to deal with and will supply any quantity of
rivets. You will also get a difinitive answer from them not just an opinion. website:http://www.prifast.co.uk/rivets%20sealed.htm
One piece of advice I would give is buy or borrow an air riveter and compressor to do the job. Believe me, there are a lot of rivets to set.
Best of luck
John
From a box of 1000 4.0mm normal flange rivets I have used just over half I reckon and probably 100-150 5.0mm large flange rivets.
I chose closed end alloy rivets which means the set rivet doesn't have a hole all the way through - this prevents moisture geting into the
chassis tubes. I got all my rivets from my local nut and bolt supplier at reasonable cost and they are manufatured by Ajax.
I used a mixture of M4 and M6 thread zinc plated steel rivnuts in 19mm and 25mm box section, depending on what you're attaching.

I used 4mm standard head on the side panels (every 80mm) and 5mm wide head on the floor (again every 80mm)
If you want to keep the rivets visible you could go for posh anodized ones or blind ones to prevent moisture penetration.

Used 4mm sealed rivets for everything on my car
Okay, 500 - 600 x 4mm closed head rivets from Primary fasteners and borrow an air riveter (I've got the compressor already) to fit them.
Lovely, just what I needed to know, cheers guys
