Oh... pooh!
David Jenkins - 7/3/07 at 09:49 AM

Several times over the past year I've had the need for a M8 die - but I hadn't got one, and 'made do' without it. Each time I've thought that I must send an order off to Tracy Tools...

Guess what - I've just been in the garage, and found that I need an M8 die - and I STILL haven't got one!

Nobody's fault but mine... order going off in the post within the next hour... (at least I'll get it back in 2 days - I can wait 'til then - and no-one needs to offer the loan of one in the mean time, thanks all the same)

I've just ordered M5 & M8 dies for a grand total of £7.20 inc P&P & VAT from Tracy Tools - Namrick want £7.00 for 1 die, plus all the trimmings on top. (both prices for carbon steel dies).

ahh but you can't aways go on just the price, you can buy cheap versons of anything, as they say you get what you pay for.

Sometimes true, but Tracy specialise in taps+dies so you'd hope they would be out of business if they products were crap.

A quick browse says they sell sub 1mm taps what are the chances of putting one of those in without breaking it.

I bought this HSS tap/die set last year, can't tell you how many times it's come in useful for me and I've lent it out aswell. great value imho.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years, a lot of it quite obscure, most by mail and some at shows. I think I've had duff items about twice, and they changed them without a quibble.

I could have got next-day delivery if I'd phoned up and paid by card, but they have a £10 minimum for that. As it is, I sent my cheque today, they'll (hopefully) get the order tomorrow, and I'll get the stuff Friday. Can't really complain...
