this may be a stupid question but to get my clark manual impact driver to loosen rather than tighten you have to push the end in and turn it...
do you turn it left or right?
Don't really want to impact tighten this skrew anymore than it already is!
Thanks
Rupert
You can see which way its turning by putting the end of the driver against something solid and pushing hard on the end you whack. You should see the
head of the driver turn one way when you push down, and spring back when you release the pressure.

Sometimes a whack or two in the tightening direction can assist with the slackening....
Looking at the business end and trying to work out which way to twist it will just send you daft. Fit the bit you want to use, place it in the screwhead and turn the body of the driver in the direction you want to go until it becomes solid (either because it was already set to go that way, or because it has moved through its range of movement and stopped). Anti-clockwise, presuming it's a standard thread. Whack it!
I got it now. Thanks a million!
don't buy it from machine mart - I did, two thwacks and it broke
