There’s nothing wrong with a good old hacksaw, it's the person controlling it that tends to be the problem...

...was cutting through 6mm plate with mine yesterday. Wouldn't describe it as like a hot knife through butter, but it certainly wasn't a struggle.

Damn you lot, some of us are lazy don't ya know. God didn't create electricity just to smite you with :-)
I'm going to get a chop saw regardless, I just want a good one.

Metal chop saw blades are very expensive to replace, not like the abrasive blades. I have an abrasive one with the 355mm cut off blades and they last well and if you don't force them they don't make too much dust.
