I've inherited some Technomagnesio wheels. Bit tatty and could do with a re-fresh.
Was thinking about re-chromating them myself - is it as straightforward as it seems?
Anodizing might be possible but the prep work is the key to a nice finish with any surface treatment.
You need to be careful with old magnesium alloy wheels. Unlike aluminium wheels the corrosion is not skin deep, it goes on burrowing! I've
chromated my own magnesium wheels in the past with a recipe I found on the web, not really to be recommended for home use!
Best to get them professionally refinished, chromated and painted or powdercoated.
Personally, I wouldn't use old magnesium wheels on the road, far too fragile.
