Stone cutting disk

Any good for cutting metal?

mookaloid - 23/9/07 at 06:42 PM

Absolutely not.

You should only use the correct disc for the job.

Very dangerous if a disc explodes

cheers

They will, but are not recommended due to the temperatures that are generated being much higher than the disk is designed for. Takes longer too.

I used a stone disc cutting a 2" by mistake and it ragged up and exploded...

Don't even try it... metal discs are cheap enough from B&Q.

Stone cutting disks in Stihl saws will cut any material known to man as long as it's on a building site. I've seen them used to cut RSJs, steel reinforcing, plastic drainpipe and anything they were resting on at the time

I used stone cutting disks to cut ali. I'd heard that the wouldn't suffer the clogging and exploding problem steel cutting ones do. Might not be true but they did work.

Not telling you to do it...but I`ve bin using them for years. 12 " in a sthil will eat through metal AND last longer. My local scrap man uses nowt else. Not a clean cut.but is it ever with carbo blades?
