Have made a mould for bonnet. Going to lay it up. Car will be predominately blue but aint picked a colour as Iwill spray everything at the death.
Is plain gelcoat as good as anything to lay this up in or would it make painting any easier by laying in a certain colour?

MK told me that white was best if I want to paint it. I guess that clear coat should be ok but I have no experience of it.

If you use a similar colour for both the gelcoat and undercoat as you want the top coat then any chips won't be so obvious.

If you're priming it it shouldn't matter what gelcoat you use.

If you use a pigment to get a uniform colour, then any flaws will be much more obvious. easier to fix then before you apply paint.
