Ive just bought a Tig so im going to have to bite the bullet and get pure Argon.
Can I use this in my Mig ? as I dont want to have two rentals on the go at the same time .
Cheers
Yep not ideal but works , but as Argon is so expensive I keep it for the TIG and use brewery gas for MIG.
Not the best I know but it's cheeep

You can use pure argon in the MIG welder but it is an awfull waste of expensive gas.
I personally would not reccomend the use of pure Argon in the welding of mild steel with a MIG welder.
You will also notice a difference in your visibility untill you get used to it.
CO2 might be a cheaper alternative for you.

No pure argon is not very good in a mig for mild steel but ok for aluminium

Using pure argon in a mig will reduce the penetration, the mig relies in a certain amount of burn to get the correct levels of penetration and from memory, some mixes actually contain O2. Someone with a bit more contemporary knowlege can confirm.
i have used a pub bottle for years for my mig and can say im 100% happy with it .
i also use Argon/CO2 mix.
all the info you need is here

Don't worry, once you get into using the TIG you won't want to use he MIG anymore!

Hmm maybe I could go back to using Co2 for the mig.......

Cheers for the replies
