Afternoon all

quick question as I'm after an idiot proof method to get a reasonable result.

I'm trying to cut across a 100mm diamtyer plastic pipe/tube at an angle of 18 degrees.

I only have access to basic tools and a workmate so no bench saws etc. Any ideas as to how to get a reasonably accurate cut as I've tried putting tape etc round but of course because it's curved I made a complete bodge of it.

Any assistance much appreciated as it'll allo me to get rearof car finished this weekend.

You can get program (no idea what someone will be along in a second) to draw a template that you wrap around the pipe..

3 blocks of wood formed into a U channel.
Mark a line and use a saw to cut your angle on each side, place pipe in U and recut the pipe using the cuts in the wood as a guide for your saw blade.

A mitre saw and jig might do the job.

Clamp a couple of pieces of steel tube upright ~5" tall, ~5" apart in the workmate.

Mark 18deg on the workmate table with a protractor, clamp another piece of wood or steel to that line.

Hold the pipe against the piece you just clamped and between the uprights. Run your saw down the uprights.

Or some variation on that theme to make use of whatever scraps and tools you have.

I couldn't get tubemitre to give a shape to fit to a flat surface.

I used a hand mitre saw in the end - which was a PITA as the cheapo B&Q saw was rubbish. Got my money back in the end.
